I love this beautifully detailed and lavishly rendered art for Big Pants. Jorge always comes through for me. We’ve worked together, we’ve drank together, we’ve sang together, and Jorge has always supported my work and career for as long as I have known him.
I first saw Jorge’s cartoon “El Super Macho” in ’01 on Icebox and on Sony’s website. I loved how macho and ornate it was. It “moved” really weird, but the stories and the music were really good. Years later, our paths crossed again at Disney development. We both were in the same group, developing our shows together. Jorge and Sandra made those stressful days so much fun. We ran through the halls, played soccer, and tried to make each other pee with laughter (Sandra!).
We later went on to work on Maggie and Disney together, and final settled on Jorge and Sandra’s amazing series El Tigre. I was honored to direct on such a complex, dense and heartfelt show.
Also check out Jorge’s latest pilot for Disney, El Carmen.
Thanks for everything Jorge, always being dependable, kind, and feisty, you are a true brother to me.
Check out this brilliant new channel 101 series, featuring special appearances by my dear friends Matt Danner and Tony Millionaire! It’s currently at #2 in the ratings, give it a watch! Let’s make it #1!
The amazing Dave Thomas! Never heard of him? Confusing him with the founder of Wendy’s or the the comedian of the same name? Well, more than likely you have seen his work before and didn’t even know it!
Emmy Award winning Animation Producer/Director extraordinaire Dave Thomas has been slogging through the industry making everything better for years. Here’s an example of some of his beat boards from El Tigre:
Working with Dave on multiple projects, his talent changed my work forever. From his snappy timing to his sturdy storyboarding, the multiple Emmys are well deserved!
When Dave sent me the idea for this strip, I thought it was a great heart warming comic especially from a new Dad, but a pure tragedy why Dave isn’t doing comics everyday of his life!
When we have a new character or costume in Strawberry, often I’ll make a reference pic for John to use while cleaning up/coloring… and for myself in case I forget a character’s details. Here are a couple of those from recent strips:
