Check out this really cool and insightful write-up by Chris McD on Skadi artist, Katie Rice, and her genius post-it doodles: Link.

Also, Katie’s artwork is in the new Meathaus anthology sketchbook titled Go For The Gold! 3.  The book features the sketch pages of 35 amazingly diverse artists.  I got my copy a few days ago, and it’s definitely filled to the brim with awesome artwork.  Here’s a preview page.

And if you’re not already aware, Meathaus has a great blog where you can keep up-to-date with all the amazing, irregular, and sometimes obscure artwork being created out there.  I check it daily, and I’m seldom unimpressed.

Dumm Comics Fan Fiction!

Saturday, November 21st, 2009 by Dumm AP

Our friend Kurdt over at Creative Garbage Dump has honored us with our first official Fan Fiction, starring Skadi/Kimbo!

 room-007

the mysterious Kurdt, aka Noface!

an excerpt:

“She had thought about eating him before when no other beasts could be found for consumption, but she had already crossed Bushbeasts off her list long ago and he was good to use as a shield in a pinch. She shivered and crossed her arms across her chest. Darn old blasted plain was cold! She looked down at Diseasoid again. His fur looked mighty warm…”

get on over there and leave Kurdt some feedback!

Seeya Dumm!

Monday, November 9th, 2009 by luke

“Thanks to Gabe, Katie, Luke, Fred, Aaron, Ricky, Kyle, John, Matt, and the other John for making Dumm an awesome website to be a part of!  I had lots of fun making comics and trying out new characters and lame retarded stuff each week.  I’m excited for Ricky’s secret Surprise coming soon.  I’ll be taking a break and moving on to my own animated projects, so Sorry Guys is not entirely over (mostly only in comic form).  Thanks for reading, Keep reading Dumm.  l8z”

LiveJournal Discoveries

Monday, November 9th, 2009 by luke

Call me ig-nant, but I never knew the LJ community was hiding so many amazing comic artists.  Here’s a few that I discovered recently.

lj

-Nick Edwards is a super talented dude from London, England.  Aside from his doodle filled sketchbook pages, be sure not to miss his incredible comic, Phantom Sword.

-Rebecca Dart is an uber-talented artist hailing from Vancouver, Canada, and she somehow flew below my radar for far too long.  All of her stuff is genius, but my favorite is her mini-comic, Drom the Squat

-Steve Wolfhard, also from Vancouver, is the creator of the poignant and hilarious comic Cat Rackham.  Also check out his website dedicated solely to Cat Rackham.

If you know of any other great LJ comic artists, post em in the comments section.  I’d love to check em out.
