Battlestar Galactica Series Finale!!!

Tonight, the best Science Fiction series on television comes to an end. It’s both super exciting and a little sad, exciting because we finally get to see what happens to the crew of Battlestar Galactica (will they finally find a home, will Baltar find redemption, who or what is Kara Thrace???) Sad because this show has brought so much entertainment every Friday night that will be sorely missed. I guess there’s still the prequel series “Caprica” but for some reason it looks less compelling than BSG. Anyway, if you’re a fan, be sure to tune in tonight, if not I can’t recommend this show enough so check it out.

Just out of curiosity, are there any BSG fans who read Dumm Comics, if so I’d love to hear your theories about what’s going to happen tonight or after the show airs what you thought about it.

    I am also VERY excited!

I don’t think that we’re going to get full closure on all of the major plot points tonight, more likely it will just close up the important character arcs. I think that we will get a bunch more contexts for issues related to the big picture plot after “The Plan” airs. Most likely, we will have to wait until Caprica to really understand how the heck any of it truly fits together.

I do hope they address Six being in Baltar’s head. I assume it’s Cylon projection based, but I think that the real question is whether it’s Cavell/John manipulating events, which would be the case if Baltar falls yet again, or more likely if he is redeemed I think it’s connected to the forces that are at the source of the one true god concept.

I’m convinced that the first hybrid is heavily connected to this notion of one god. I’m hoping for a hint of that tonight.

Yeah, I think the “head” six is definitely a question that’s been nagging a lot of people since the beginning of the series. I hope you’re right in that they’ll close up the main character arcs. One thing that I hope they’ll do though is find a home. I know it may be a bit too “Hollywood” of an ending but if you strip down the series to it’s bare bones, take away all the cool space battles, amazing characters/relationships, and mythology, that’s what it’s all about.

BSG is partially a good SCI-FI series but that’s not what it makes so popular. I watched till mid Season 4, but had to push me through some episodes because they really are mostly about drama and thus are more like one of those annoying series like OC California.
There is nothing wrong with that - may everyone watch what he likes most. Me, I just don’t like it that much, that I’m particulary interested in the series. It’s not like with Stargate (SG1 and even more Atlantis) and Eureka, whom I think more Scifi than BSG, where every new episode was a must see.

I get to watch the finale today! Recently the episodes have been talk, talk, talk and I want there to be more action and intrigue. I hope this last episode hearkens back to the BSG seasons of old that I love so much. I agree with Ohjeepers in that I hope we discover why Gaius’s head works the way it does (er, sees the things it does), but probably it’ll be one of those strange unsolved mysteries of the BSG universe. I’m on the fence still about whether I’ll tune in to Caprica. If it gets some good reviews I guess it wouldn’t hurt to take a peek.

Well, I am one of those folks that enjoyed the “stuff blowing up in space” much more than the religion or “people” aspects of the show. (no, my name isn’t anything to do with the show, ben using it since the late nineties as a handle). I was very disappointed by the “6 feet under” meets LOTR ending, and all the lessons about robots taking over humans. But I guess the writers had to do something to tie up the show. I owuld have liked to see the whole thing blow up instead. I was terribly disappointed with Starbuck’s lack of resolution.

It was an amazing show overall. I think the writers got really burned out towards the end and felt they needed some closure. I guess it is their show to write. It was very anticlimatic to me. Maybe one day someone will have the balls to write an ending to a show that isn’t all fluffy.

The first 2/3rds of the finale was very good. Once they made it to Earth, it became interminable, and I was glad when the final credits rolled. Sure, they had to tie up the characters, but the last third weakened the whole finale, IMO.
