More from David Gale!

Saturday, November 29th, 2008 by Sean

This weekend offers another strip of Offal Funnies by David Gale.

Here are some of his neat sketchbook doodles translated into 3D. Awesome!

Again, for more of his work, check out David’s blog: http://tetecarree.blogspot.com

How tall is Skadi?

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 by katie

Since today’s strip pokes fun at Skadi’s substantial body length, I thought I’d post up this size chart I drew comparing Skadi to modern day cartoonists.  While being a 6 foot 5 girl nowdays isn’t totally unheard of, back in Skadi’s time everyone was real shrimpy (due to malnutrition, as well as other nasty ailments such as rickets and who knows what else), so she’d be a behemoth of a girl.

This Week’s Guest: DAVID GALE!

Friday, November 21st, 2008 by Sean

David Gale lives in rural Newfoundland, Canada and is a lifelong fan of comics and cartoons.  Offal Funnies is his first serious attempt at a comic strip.  He also draws some awesome structural doodle-thingy pages! I really like the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” 3D shape-poem!

Check out his blog, The Box Factory, to see more.

Flu Season

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 by katie

Today’s Skadi comic is fueled by hate…my very own hatred of doctor visits!!  Visiting the doctor is even worse than being sick!  I know I ought to appreciate the doctor since he is there to rid me of my ailments…but must he always “friendly pat” me in that weird fake-soothing doctor way?  Must he poke and prod?  Must he try to burn off every mole?  I am running out of them now, please let me keep a couple of the cute ones!  Don’t put that cold thing in my ear!  And I don’t want to wear any paper dress!

There is one thing I sort of like about doctor visits, however.  I like that blood pressure thing they put on your arm.  That’s the only fun part!  That, and stealing the magazines!  REVENGE!

Hey You Guys

I’m participating in a chairty art auction this Sat. Here’s the info:

On Saturday, November 15th The Those Guys are putting on a charity screening of the classic movie “The Goonies” at the Rialto Theater in South Pasadena. Admission is FREE, and we’ll be accepting donations at the door. The night will include a raffle (including Sean Astin-signed movie stills, DreamWorks and Nickelodeon Animation schwag and much more!) and 80’s kid movie themed art auction. It all benefits “Donors Choose” a charity that buys art supplies for classrooms around the country.

Can’t get to the show becuase you don’t live in Los Angeles?! Don’t let that stop you! Get in on the action by bidding on the artwork online! http://www.ttgcharity.com/auction/index.html

There are some pieces up right now, but more will be there the night of the show (like mine becuase I’m still working on it.)

Change!

Thursday, November 13th, 2008 by luke

You may or may not have noticed a few changes popping up around here. There’s been a few new additions to Dumm as a direct result of the answers and suggestions you all provided in the Dumm Survey (thank you to those who took the time to fill it out).

For starters, we decided to make the Dumm Forum a bit more attractive by enabling avatars. We also added a new section called “Show Your Art” that allows you to post your own creations for all the world to see (well, at least for the 30 or so people that look at our forum to see).

Another thing we decided to change is our advertisements. We got rid of our crummy ol’ Google ads, and switched over to Project Wonderful ads. A lot of webcomics choose to advertise on Project Wonderful, so we felt that the switch would make our ad space more relevant to your interests. There’s a lot of cool and interesting stuff out there in the webcomicsphere, so don’t be shy and explore it by clicking on the ads!

That’s all for now. Oh, and we’ll be announcing another special change to Dumm next week!
