This week’s guest: Matt Danner!!!

Friday, October 31st, 2008 by Ricky

Matt Danner is one of my very best friends in the world and an incredibly prolific and successful young artist. His many directing credits include Cartoon Network’s “Out of Jimmy’s Head”, Kids WB’s “Coconut Fred’s Fruit Salad island”, and the upcoming “The Drinky Crow Show” series on Adult Swim. Matt co-created the popular “Pussy Cow” web cartoon, and designed the characters of the world-famous “Xiaolin Showdown!”

Keep an eye out for Matt’s numerous and super funny television projects. You can’t miss them!

CONTROVERSIAL ARTIST TO WED FAMOUS CARTOONIST

Monday, October 27th, 2008 by Dumm AP
It was announced this morning that obscure artist Boleander Yergabick will wed the stunning Marlo Meekins in an intimate ceremony next month. Meekins, known as one of the G4 channel’s “most beautiful women of the web”, met Yergabick early last week through an exchange on the Dumm Comics news blog. The two then embarked on a whirlwind romance which soon culminated in their engagement.
As of last week, Yergabick was still married to his previous wife of 30 years, Drusilla Copenhagen Yergabick. She died six days ago under mysterious circumstances, when a refrigerator fell on top of her bed as she slept.
Mr. Yergabick declined to comment. “We are very happy together,” says Meekins.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN from ZACH BELLISSIMO!

Friday, October 24th, 2008 by Ricky

Where are these incredibly talented 19-year-old artists coming from? There must be some kind of wonderful mutation afoot!

Zach Bellissimo is a 19 year old animation student and cartoonist, currently attending his sophomore year at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, pursuing a career in comics and/or animation. He’s currently working on an independent animation project called Sunday Night Fun which will start production in November. Zach was recently commissioned to do T-shirt designs for Italian punk clothing company Against Clothing, which will be available for purchase later this month.

Skadi Lives!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 by luke

One of the best things about doing a webcomic is all the great fan art you get. Yet, the talented Justin Nichols took it a step further and actually animated an amazing Skadi run cycle!!! He did a fantastic job (I’ve probably watched it about 200 times now), so I thought I’d share it with the rest of ya!  Check out Justin’s BLOG, while you’re at it.

There’s a lot of really amazing Halloween/horror related blogs out there these days. Here’s a few that I’ve been frequenting this season (not all content on these blogs is work safe):

Boleander Speaks!

Monday, October 20th, 2008 by Ricky

Hello to everybody! Your prayers have been answered. I am back for a few more weeks of Dumb Comics. Although as you can see: my comics are not dumb, they are smart. Hopefully someday soon I will find a much better website with much better artists. But in the meantime please to bear with me.

My office has been flooded with questions regarding my work and my lack of online presence. It is obvious that not one of you is a true scholar of animations. If you knew anything about the subject, you would be familiar with my famous characters like “Peepee Pendragon” “Donald Duck” and “Rumpus McSnivel” who even had his own top-grossing movie in Turkey and Romania in 1977.

But much of my work was lost in a mysterious fire which killed my former business partner and for which I collected three hundred thousand Rupees in insurance money. My extensive library had not been digitally archived as I did not invent the internet until 1985, when the Ukranian government gathered the 6 brightest minds in the world to do so.

In addition, my many lawsuits against Disney, Jerry Seinfeld, PETA, Dumm Comics, Jim Davis, and The Dolly Parton Estate prevent me from discussing much of my work online. So consider yourself lucky that you have found the artwork of the one and only Boleander Yergabick!

You are very welcome.

And the answer is….

Congratulations to Happenstance for answering SuperDimensional RiddleBots question correctly!

I’ve always been fascinated by nebulae. My dad was one of those dads who had a new hobby about every 3 years or so and he enjoyed sharing those hobbies with me. We did everything from gold mining to model building to glider riding. One of my favorites though was amateur astronomy. We had only two magazine subscriptions that would come to our house, one was Sky & Telescope and the other was Astronomy. I remember pouring over those magazines and staring in awe at the detailed photographs of all the different nebulae. We would take trips out to the desert (too much “light pollution” in the city my dad would always say) to set up and peer through our telescope at the very same nebulae I drooled over in the magazines. And even though they looked much smaller, less focused, and less colorful through our relatively meager telescope, it was always a thrill to see ‘em up there in the sky.

Ode to the Angry Mob

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008 by luke

As you may have noticed, this isn’t the first Skadi comic to end with an angry mob chasing our hero. Angry mobs are funny because they’re so true. The tiniest thing can rile up a mob, and before you know it, even the best intentioned person can find himself running from torches and pointy sticks. An armed morphous mass of dull colors and sporadically placed angry heads is just one of those corner stones of comedy.

Perhaps one of the first angry mobs presented for entertainment purposes can be found in Frankenstein. This is why we chose a Frankenstein themed Skadi comic to honor the angry mob. To further honor angry mobs, here’s a great scene from my favorite horror film, The Bride of Frankenstein:

Edit- THE TRUTH about Rumpus McSnivel

Monday, October 13th, 2008 by Ricky

The much despised BOLEANDER YERGABICK is rightfully known to some as the most hated comic strip artist of the 70’s and early 80’s. After facing several charges stemming from his copyright scams (he once tried to claim ownership of Donald Duck in Slovakia), Yergabick was banished from his Ukranian homeland. He fell into obscurity and had been thankfully unheard of for many years.

That is until now. Yergabick has launched a vicious and slanderous lawsuit against Dumm comics, claiming that he invented the “Daily Dumms for Everyones” format. As part of our settlement we are being FORCED to show his work from time to time, which will unfortunately pre-empt our regularly scheduled content. Please help Dumm comics, and let Mr. Yergabick know just how UNWELCOME he is by leaving him lots of scathing comments under his awful comic strips.

Thank you.
