Happy October!

by luke

It’s my favorite time of the year again, the month of October! The weather starts to change, a cool breeze blows, orange, yellow, and brown leaves fall, people decorate their houses with spiderwebs, skeletons, and pumpkins, conservative stores start selling all kinds of cool stuff like skulls and severed heads, and for the grand finale all the kids in the neighborhood dress up in a million different ways and take to the streets in droves… begging for sweets and celebrating our love for all things spooky. I probably sound hokey, but I love Halloween and everything about October. To celebrate my obsession, we’ll be presenting five Halloween-themed Skadi comics for the entire month of October (lucky me, there’s five Wednesdays in October this year!)

Halloween is truly an awesome month. And as for trick-or-treating… well, I kept that tradition going until I went off to college (believe me, NYC is no place for door-to-door shenanigans. I guess kids there go from apartment door to apartment door to get candy goodness?). Last Halloween I tried to pick up where I left off (one last hurrah and all that), but my little cousins went through their growth spurt and now we look like a bunch of hoodlums and even though we were wearing full on costumes with masks we got a few lame comments from some of the people passing out candy. Like, “You kids know this is your last year, right?” So… this year I will scare them from the comfort of my own wickedly decorated home. Muahahaha, it’s time to plan!!
