El Tigre Series Finale!
by Ricky

For the last two years I had the honor to work on the Nickelodeon Television Series El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera. In fact, all of the Head Dummies worked on this show! Katie did animation and specialty poses, Luke and Sean did storyboards, Gabe directed several episodes and Fred was an assistant director. Dumm webmaster Matt edited some kickass animatics!
Today I had the privelege to view the spectacular series finale, with a final short storyboarded by yours truly! The image above is an amazing digital painting by the El Tigre Character Design and Background teams, taken from one of my very own storyboard panels! Character Designer Extraordinaire Steve Lambe posted a description of the process involved to create this image, on his blog.
Special thanks to Jorge R. Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua, the creators of El Tigre (the world’s most beautiful animated television series). Also endless thanks to Dave Thomas, Roman Laney, Doug Langdale, Scott Kreamer, Tim Yoon, and the entire El Tigre and Nickelodeon team for the opportunity to be a part of this tremendous masterpiece!
Watch for episodes of El Tigre on the Nicktoons network.

sigh. Well…here’s to a good run, all. Thanks for everything. It truly was one of the greatest new series out there and it will be sorely missed.
Cheers!, Manny

It’s amazing how they’ll cancel a great show like this and keep all the crap they already have. El Tigre was one of the only shows on Nick I could stand to watch anymore. Oh well, I suppose.

Great!
I saw the five or so episodes that were available on demand over here. It really looked like an amazingly promising show, full of stuff you never see in kids shows; but done so well you wonder why the hell not.

That episode had everything, this is a magnificent piece. Props to you and everyone who worked on the show for making such a glorious work of art. Its so big in other countries, hopefully they bring it back.

I’ve never had the pleasure of witnessing this show. I don’t have the Nickelodeon channel. Does anyone know if it has been screened elsewhere in Australia?
Anyway, I totally reckon you ought to get Steve Lambe to do a guest strip!

Is there anything at all we can do? Not even for one last episode?

Oh man, i don’t have cable, but i got to catch episodes every time i took care of my boss’ kids. I’ve been spreading the word to everyone who’ll listen, my animator pals, my roommate, even my ma has heard me go on about it. El Tigre’s one of the new cartoons that gives me hope that cartoons can still be good. It’s be sad to know that i won’t see further adventures of Frida, White Pantera, Puma Loco, and especially good ol’ Manny Riviera himself. Everything about El Tigre is/was so great. I love seeing videogame character cameos. I love the animation. I love the writing. I especially love the villains! EL OSO RAWKS SAWKS, MANG!

Still the only ‘toon worth watching. Exquisitely drawn, witty, clever, musically complex, culturally telling/amusing, Hope I can find it to keep, as there’s always something I missed. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
