Ah, traumatic explosive classroom drama (from those relatively-salad days before guns became the solution to everything).
A girl I had a crush on in high school burst screaming into class one day, pursued by her enraged mother. The mother was in turn pursued and ultimately restrained (after smacking her daughter a couple of times in front of us) by the Principal, Vice-Principal, and a couple of other staff. Rumor was the girl had gotten pregnant, but I’ll be damned if I can imagine a plausible scenario for such a thing blowing up AT SCHOOL. Did the mother find out about it from the Principal? I grew up in a hick Flaw’da town surrounded by peanut farms, but for God’s sake.
Never saw her again, of course, and never found out what truly happened.
Wow, I remember a few times when a few teachers had to hold some 8th grader back from attacking the principal, it always made the rest of us feel like we all had a sense of comradery when the bully was present.
Sadly there are some people that are beyond help, personally I don’t feel bad for her. She had the choice to not be a bully, she choose to be one and it bit her in the butt. You probably saved yourself and your classmates from future abuse from her. Think of it this way, if she wasn’t a bully, she probably would not have ended up being transfered. Most likely she probably returned to her bad habits and ended up being a bully at her new school.
These days the school would have just called the cops to drag her off, the school staff would not have touched her in fear of a lawsuit.
I’ve been enjoying The Hero for a number of weeks now (thanks gabe for being WEEKLY, scalawag) but I sense a heavy ending coming in a big way. On the musico side of this, I’ve found Mr Bungle’s ‘Retrovertigo’ seems to go well with all this, not so much operationally so much as it does thematically.. the sound just strikes so well to the age lost in this sort of thing, that.. missing piece and those stuck in search of it.
What I meant is that this episode reminded me of Kevin Bacon in that movie.
People who have gone through the Ayahuasca experience claim its a brutal ordeal, because the vine shows you the way your actions have affected the lives of others. Part of me is curious about trying, but it still scares the crap out of me :(
That was rather sad, hopefully she received some counseling or other help to work out what’s behind the aggressiveness.
hmm…I this does remind me o’ one time where a student did have an outbreak in my class back in Jr. high (he had a rather bad temper), the kid didn’t transfer but did receive some counseling and alternative punishment. Jr. High was one of the worst; considering most folks are going through the puberty stages. buhh….it was much worse than high school. <:D
Jr. High was super hard for me too. It’s like taking any credibility you didn’t have in grade school and multiplying it by how many more students there were in that school!

Wow, that does sound like some crazy drama. Did you ever find out why? Did you still have a crush on her? :)
Wow… you… you did it? You really did it… On another note, I love the six foot chin on the guy in the fifth panel XD
I did. That teacher is going to play a larger role in some future comics! :) He was already in “Ball Closet”…
Oh, excellent! I’m not sure why I didn’t remember him… that’s one heck of a chin! I look forward to seeing him again!
You devious bastard…good work!
Thanks?
That’s so sad! Poor girl. I mean, she was mean, but changing schools mid-year can be so tough! She probably only got meaner after this.
I bet she killed someone.
I dig those desk-chair units, man. Were they really attached at the bottom like that?
Yes they were. We had really really really old desks.
Holy shi-, 3 grown ups needed to restrain a little(?) girl… that other kid sure got lucky!
Yep, she was hauled off!
Here’s a saying: Be careful what you wish for… you might just get it
Unfortunately.
Because he’s the hero this classroom deserves… but not the one it needs right now.
yep

Wow! You guys were fighting the man!
Gabe, you should hold a firetruck-themed art contest on Dumm. I guarantee NOBODY will try to outdo you. NOBODY. NOHOW. :o
LOL!
I hope bethany got therapy of some kind, or her behavior was somehow looked into. i feel really bad for her, actually.
I do too.

i dont think you’ve ever suffered from mental illness or abuse in your life. its not easy to just ‘choose’ not to act out if you are mentally ill.
I was really rooting for her to get some kind of help. Maybe she did. I hope so. That kind of behavior is learned. :(
I’d like to think she did get some help.

You are quite welcome for the weekly updates! Havent missed one yet! :)
Not too big of an ending. The musical choice is interesting. I’ve never heard that song before.
Wow, I feel kinda sorry for her… that’s really gotta sting.
But, still, this is a great comic. It’s interesting to get a look into your past!
Thanks so much. I wish I had a lot more painful stories now! :)
I’m sure that the first time you saw the movie Flatliners you stayed up all night ;)
Flatliners! Oh man! I snuck into that movie!

I forgot about that in the movie.
Wow, I don’t ever want to know or experience that! :)

Agreed.
