Since she’s not an intern (RAZ Corp interns are basically red shirts) I’d say she’ll be sticking around.

The sad part? This is approximately what happens to farmers in Third World countries. They get their modified seed from corporations that force them to buy new seed every year, instead of harvesting it from the crops that grew from it, which is considered theft. If a farmer tries to cheat and gets found out, he will be forced to destroy his crops.

Yeah, the reality of corporate farming, GMO crops and patented seeds is pretty horrifying and tragic. It’s one of those things that could literally lead to an apocalypse scenario, and it’s only happening so the food companies can line their pockets with bigger profit margins. As a comic artist, I might as well satirize the tragedy to bring people’s attention to the reality of it. Support your local farmers markets, homies. Go back in time and vote yes on prop 37 (again).

Just out of curiosity, will we ever see a big story arc again? Don’t get me wrong, the comics are still plenty entertaining but it would be nice to see something a little more narrative oriented.

After the last long story I’ve been hesitant to jump into one (aside from the small 4 parter about the new intern, Lisa). It didn’t seem like the audience was too into it, and then I was locked into letting the whole story play out, even if the readers weren’t that interested. Also, despite having the rough outline from the beginning, I wrote each individual page each week, so they didn’t always turn out as funny or well planned as I would have liked. If I do another big story, I’m going to have to write every page before I even start drawing, so I’m confident it will be consistent.

That being said, I have 2 whole stories pretty well outlined that I would love to do. If people are interested, let me know. I might switch gears and flesh them out sooner than later.

Yeah, I was raised in a culture of eating healthy and organic, knowing what’s in my food and using whole, natural ingredients. Food and cooking are probably my biggest interest after cartoons, so write what you know, right?

Yeah, this is a funny one, and I love the scientist.

GMO’s are of no danger *as food* and have the potential to solve many world problems, including food shortages and habitat loss, but any good technology usually has equal destructive capabilities, and this stuff is just too new to have enough legislation banning practices like Monsanto’s.

I’m sure there is potential for good from GMOs, but I think they need to be regulated and identified/labeled, so we are fully aware of what we’re buying and eating, and they should not fully replace the non GMO strains of crops (we should have a choice). However, even things that seem good and are created with the intention of making farming easier and feeding more people can have really negative effects on the health of the general population that aren’t fully identified until decades later (ie. the creation of hybridized wheat, the current standard wheat, for which Norman Borluag won a Nobel Prize) http://io9.com/5968164/why-you-should-probably-stop-eating-wheat .

That being said, it seems like most of the GMO activity is happening not with the intention of making farming easier and feeding more people, but only with the motivation of allowing companies to patent seeds and force farmers to buy their patented seeds only, and buy new ones every year (because the plants they grow are sterile) instead of harvesting seeds from their own crop to use the next year like they should be able to do. That’s just plain evil.

Anywho, glad you liked the comic! With the whole comic built around RAZ Corp, I might as well explore some actual behaviors of corporations.
