So…there are many types of holiday gift givers and receivers, but this comic focuses on two main groups. I’m writing this out because I feel like this comic will only make sense to one certain type- those like Diseasoid who relish in the joy of picking out a gift…wrapping it with love and care…then surprising a loved one. Then there are those like Skadi who want to puzzle out what it is they’re getting and create their own fun guessing game out of it. Unfortunately while fun, this game can potentially destroy whatever joy their loved ones might have gotten from keeping the surprise secret. What type are you? I don’t think it’s too hard to guess where I stand on this matter…

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! SKADI!!
And of course, Diseasy will get a new beating for christmas. Brand new and all painful…
Agreed, I can’t wait. Merry Christmas to us all.
And oh, great comic guys.
Did you realize there is also the inverse type of gift givers and receivers? The gifter keeps giving you clues and the receiver covering their ears going “La-la-la-lla-la!”
DON’T TELL ME! DON’T TELL ME!! I WANNA’ BE SURPRISED …
My brother got an axe (for chopping wood) on his birthday a few years ago. The giver had wrapped it in tinfoil, so it was impossible *not* to see what it was.
I don`t like receiving or giving gifts. Misanthrope style. By the way, today is my birthday. (No joke.)
Um. Okay. So I guess I’ll return the Porsche to the agency then.
Aw poor Diseasoid T_______________T I hate it when people ruin surprises too but at the same time I’m guilty of ruining surprises, not on purpose but because my boyfriend is bad at giving them and way too obvious lol.
Adorable comic, as always! A question for Katie or Luke: is Diseasoid going to get a gift for Christmas or his master going to ignore him once again?
(I love panel numbre three)
Craaaaaaap! I forgot all about Yaksmas.
See, while I stand on the side of enjoying the gift-giving, I’ve perfected the completely nonchalant, noncommittal answer. They’ll have no idea they just picked the right one and keep on guessing. The surprise on their face when they realize they did guess it 10 days ago, I just didn’t give them any hint, is great.
I’m also guilty as charged as a guesser. I love trying to figure out what it is. I don’t ask people outright, I just stare at the boxes and shake them gently to see…
Noo ;-;
I hope Skadi actually gives him something nice this time and not a kick in the teeth XD
I would have though of some decent armor.
A little bit more steel around the belly wouldn’t hurt so much.
btw skadi and dideasoid are looking extra adorable this strip!
Aughhh, I feel Diseasoid’s pain. I married a man whose family never wrapped gifts, or built up any anticipation about them. Our first winter together, his dad called us up the first week of December and said “Hey, come over and pick up this blender I got your for Christmas.” I was so shocked.
On the other hand, I have a family that wraps and sets everything under the tree, and I spend the whole month of December trying to keep my husband from shaking boxes, peeking under the wrap, and guessing what’s in the boxes.
mroh!.
