whoa..mister big-shot-director doesn’t have time for his fans..acting upset for not finishing your comic doesn’t mean your fans won’t hate you..
i can understand not having time for this anymore but….
like, 30% of the updates are “oops can draw this week”
and now your just quitting at the most climatic part?
Passive aggressive internet “wows” are the worst.
Just… wow. A GALLON.
Oh hi there fuzzy unsettling angry readers, if you feel like keep trolling you should also check Sorry Guys for a bunch of comics made specially for you.
I guess focusing on one project to make it really good rather than being all over the place and in effect not having time for half your stuff is preferable. Especially if the single thing pays the bills.
Gosh, I wonder what will replace Wicked Wickle to round out the Dumm smorgasboard of lazy trolling, cloying I-peaked-in-elementary-school nostalgia, increasingly stale cheesecake, dumb frog-based lolrandom idiocy and funny animal Nice Guy misogyny.
Oh, and Frog Raccoon Strawberry, which is actually good.
I await, with baited breath, the comic that you’re going to come up with and produce every week.
I await your eventual realisation that you don’t need to draw comics to make meaningful criticisms of comics any more than you need to be a gourmet chef to know when you’ve been served a poop sandwich.
Hold up now, Sunday isn’t funny animal Nice Guy misogyny anymore. He’s got a new comic with an adorable cat in it.
One day, but probably never, you will realize there is more to life than the internet.
No, no he never will. One day there will be no more internet, and the only thing waiting for him will be a noose*
*We can only hope
I think you’re confusing “meaningful criticism” with “glib dismissal”, the difference being that between sounding smart and being smart.
that’s to skull-face, obviously, comment nesting is off.
Aww, I hate to see Wicked Wickle go. It was one of my favorites here at Dumm.
Good luck with your new cartoon. Hope all goes well for you!
I agree! Wicked Wickle is next to Skaadi and life in the analogue age for me here. I really enjoyed the run. Unlike some people who are critical or indignant that Luke may have other priorities I have to say congratulations Luke! Its been a good run and hopefully you can find the time again in the future!
I can’t say that I have any conception of how much work it takes to make a comic each week. I’m disappointed that I don’t get to find out what happens to them! Particularly, as was mentioned, given that we seemed to be reaching the climax. I had really enjoyed this story and art!
If the creator doesn’t get paid for it then I suppose I can understand his not wanting to waste time – particularly when a new full-time job leaves him with no great desire to complete a side project. I hope that he is able to bring to his new job more resolve than he had for his comic.
Have fans make the conclusion! Hold a contest and pick the best ending
Well, it’s your comic, and you’re free to do as you please, since we don’t pay you to write it. Still, it’s an awfully disappointing thing to stick on the readers so suddenly. Not even a two weeks notice or a quick wrap up? Just “I’m done, see you later”? As I said, it’s your comic, but some propriety would have been appreciated.
Anyway, best of luck in your new directing job. I hope you succede in all your future escapades.
Directing job? Congrats!
On a new cartoon, or an existing one?
What Searchlight said.
We’re all fully conversant with the fact that these comics are free, we don’t have to read them, and yes, it takes valuable time for the creator to draw them each week, when he could be spending this time earning money. That’s taken as read.
However, if you put out a comic which has a very slow pace (script wise), and is frequently interrupted by ‘Sorry Charlies” – then decide to abruptly stop the comic JUST as the plot was coming together for an interesting climax, then you have to expect some flak from the readers.
It’s great that you’ve been given the opportunity you have, but to completely abandon this project without any attempt to bring it to a conclusion shows a lack of respect for your readers. The pissed off sounding people commenting on this feed are not doing so to ‘troll’ you – they’re doing so because they supported your work and enjoyed your story. What you’ve decided to do is a kick in the teeth for them.
^^^ Seriously, pay attention to what this guy says. Stringing people along for 20 months and then ditching them at a moment which appears, for all the world, to be the climax of the whole series? Now *THAT* is trolling.
Would you rather have the artist finish up with an inferior version because he (clearly) doesn’t have time to complete it right now?
Or would you rather have him shelve the comic until such time as he can give the effort and energy the comic deserves?
I’ll take the latter without any complaints.
That is “IF” he ever comes back to finish his comic. I rather a poor ending than no ending at all like the SATAM cliffhanger.
Quite a fitting end for “Why I Didn’t Draw a Comic Today: The Comic”.
Does it mean the end of Skadi as well, though?
Nope, Skadi is still going to be a weekly comic on Dumm.
As has been said, the cartoons are free, we don’t have to read them, we should be grateful, we are not worthy, let’s see you do better then. Complaints? You are a troll and beneath contempt.
I used to look forward to my daily Dumms. I don’t anymore. Suggest you all find something else to channel your vast ego into, seeing as how we are not good enough your huge artistic skills.
Just like every other Dumm comic. Finally get to a good point in a story line and drop out. At least we’ll get Sorry Guys two days a week now.
You can’t blame a man for saying “Yes” to a his dream job and paying the bills… Good luck on your career!
oh those americans… :)
Wow! This .. is.. FANTASTIC!! Congratulations! I really hope your project will be an amazing hit! I’ll keep looking out for it!
Please concentrate on your Cartoon! I’d like to hope that more talented people like you would get this chance! Please take care of yourself!
Lots and lots of good luck for you! Best Regards!
Awww… no more Wickle, no Kaiju smackdown. Oh well! What cartoon show? I’d love to see if some of your signature Wickle touches eventually show through in the directing :D Little injokes or nods for your fans! :D Having someone occasionally say “sorry charlie” would be pretty damn epic, actually :3
Never liked it that much, though. Anyway, i DO hope that Luke finds time to provide colour to “Skadi”, my favorite Dumm strip (alongside “Life In The Analog Age”). Or maybe Katie will work the colours herself (that would be great too). Or BW Skadi, perhaps. The point is: do not cancel Skadi!!!!!
Katie does all of the character colors as it is. I think Luke mostly does the backgrounds. I’m sure Skadi will be just fine.
All the best on that new job!
Gratulacje! I’ll miss Wickle. Good luck on the new gig!
Congratulations! I for one understand that career comes first. For me, dumm comics has always been about artists indulging themselves, and we the fans should feel lucky to partake on that indulgence!
And another good Dumm comic ends without closure. Oh well, at least this one is for positive reasons.
Yeah, and for a directing job! it doesn’t get much more positive than that!
Sucks that the story doesnt even have a deus ex machina ending, but you gotta do what you gotta do to pay the bills at the end of the day. At least tell us what show you’re going to be working for.. Good luck with your new job, sounds like a great new step in your career!
sad that end like this, IS SO WICEKD !
Good luck with new Job as director !
by the way, were i have to E-mail a solicitation for Dumm Comics ?
aww man… i’ll miss you, Wickle.
That’s great news!
Good luck with the new cartoon!
Reading some of these comments, I don’t know if we really deserved Wickle. :( Without any trace of irony I say you’re probably too good for us, Luke.
That said, I really hope you do come back to Dumm at some point.
All the best on your “silly cartoon show”! X)
PLEASE DUMM COMICS DON’T FUCK UP
GIVE THE WEDNESDAY SLOT TO JW BALSLEY OR SOMEONE AMAZING LIKE THAT
Congratulations! Hate to see the comic go on hiatus, but I’m sure whichever cartoon you’re working on next will be just as good.
To the people complaining:
He is moving up in the world. If you really are his fans, you should be happy for him!
There are different kinds of friendships and relationships with people. I think many commenters see themselves as “customers” and not as really, really deep friends
IMO the best way to resolve this is to have a guest or audience member make an ending
I’ll admit, I’m sad to see Wicked Wickle go for now. Despite all the delays I was really interested in it. It’s nice to see you’ve landed a nice job though, best of luck to you.
I’de love to know what you’re going to direct and watch it! Congratulations Luke!
Hey at least you got a job, congratulations!!

son of a …..something
BRING THE CAPITAIN BACK¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Aw man, this was my favourite Dumm comic. :(
well this is disappointing as you were one of the few good Dumm comics
This is a bit of a pity, given where it got ended… Uhhh, couldn’t do us a favour and tell us how it ended?
That is most dissapointing, especially when a gigantic fight was just about to happen.
Talk about a Wicked finale…
Anyhow, good luck on your new job.
Remember: it’s not about the bills, it’s about the passion.
I’m glad to see it go! The last update was so lackluster and even REUSED half of it’s art from a previous comic, it was literally 2 new sketches.
I’ve never seen a more poorly handled comic on the internet, and all I’d like now is to know what show he is moving to so I can avoid it.
Wait, that’s how the story ends?
Seems like a lot of your fans are douchebags. After last weeks comments, I’m not surprised that you didn’t put forth the effort of giving us a proper ending. I’d like to say I’m looking forward to your new show, but unless it shows up on Netflix or Hulu I won’t get to see it anyway. Good luck!
Well sucks you can’t continue this. But I hope you still succeed in your current project. ^_^ Hey, if all else fails, you could churn this out in your spare time?
That’s a shame. It was getting really good. Kind of anticlimactic to be honest. But I’m glad you’re going on to bigger and better things. Best of luck to you, dude!
Aw… Good bye to Wickle. Thanks for doing this comic for us… your art is great. And CONGRATS on the new gig! That’s fantastic. :D I’m curious as to what you’ll be working on. Hopefully you’ll be able to tell us sometime.
Wow you suck. ;p
Also congratulations ; )
I hope we can get a actually good comic here now, this whole thing was train wreck from the beginning to the overdue end.
Not upset to see this comic go at all.
If you want to keep that new job, you should try actually working on it and putting effort into it (this time).
You are encouraged to reread the story from the beginning to verify your claim that Wicked Wickle started out as a trainwreck. I don’t think you have a very clear concept of how a train operates. If it moves at great velocity and arrives punctually, the train has not been wrecked.
So it was more like a drunk driver’s car wreck? Pull out of the driveway okay, but hit a few bumps, potholes, and mail boxes before finally smashing into a telephone pole before arriving at the destination.
The driver here even seems to have fallen asleep at the wheel a few times LOL!
Ha ha Jennifer, you make me laugh.
Seriously that was funny. This comic was exactly like that!
Well I really enjoyed Wickle and am sad to see it go. It was one of my favourites on Dumm.
Out of curiosity and as a major nerd for cartoons and animation, Id be interested in knowing what show your working on? Id love to keep up with your work.
Hey, good luck with the new job.
Damn! Right when I was really getting into the “sorry Charlie” storyline
Good luck on the show dude!
Is it disappointing to be left hanging at a climax? Yes.
But is it fine to insult the man who made an effort to create a fun web comic for all of you out there to read for free, has been caught in several deadlines, played his part in creating the new Skadi book, and is now going on hiatus because he got a big chance to do what he loves? Hell no. Just no.
If I’ve learned anything more from this, it goes to show just how insensitive some people, even your FANS for Christ’s sake, can be. Cheers to Luke for landing a job, and to all the people here who cheer him on with understanding and best wishes.
Congrats on the directing job! Wicked Wickle started out great & it’s sad that the comic had to end in this manner. Here’s hoping you’ll find time, energy & drive to finish the comic at some point in the future!
You wont be missed! Seeya loser!
Congrats Luke! I will be refreshing the Luke Cormican IMDB page to see what cartoon show you will be directing. You do great work and you will be missed from the Dumm lineup!
Has Luke Cormican considered having a friend draw an ending? I would have quickly outlined an ending and had a friend draw it
I can’t say I’m sad to see this go :/
It’ll be nice to have this spot replaced with someone who (I HOPE) updates consistently.
Congrats on the directing job! I hope you come back once things settle in. I really enjoyed your run. Thanks for the fun read, man!
Oh this ended? Weird place to do it, but I kinda felt like they were gonna pull the plug on this thing sooner or later. Didn’t like how often it wasn’t updated, all the excuses and shit. And this is a fitting ending then to a comic like this.
Hope we get some that’s good next :)
*With a quality author I mean!
Ah I missed this strip, explains a lot really. Understandable though considering how many times you had to delay the comic. Hope you do come back and finish it though, good luck on your new job ^_^.
So this is what happened! Oh well that’s fine and all. I just wish some people wouldn’t be so rude and sarcastic but hey that’s the internet for you. Good luck on that cartoon (any chance anyone knows which cartoon he’s directing?). Hope to see Wicked Wickle again in the future sometime.
