Absolutely great, once again. This strip/video is a guaranteed weekly delight. As a drummer who’s always playing on glasses, bottles, saucers or whatever is on sight, I feel really identified. And, yes, people usually hate my performances too. Oddly enough, they don’t complain when I play the drums, which are a million times louder. Music is everywhere, people should learn that!
Recommended listening: the two tracks Pink Floyd recorded for their “Household Project”, entirely performed oneveryday objects.
Awesome! I used to do that! I’ve always been haunted as to what that howling squeaking sound was in samba music and I found that doing that with a straw and cup sort of sounded like it. Years later I find out: the real instrument (cuica) wasn’t far off from being a stick in a cup.
Yep! I always liked that noise and was really surprised when recording this how much it sounded like it too! The amount of soda in the cup changes the sound a lot… :)
lol, gabe!!! this should go viral.
Remixes welcomed! :)
great work, bud!!!
Thanks!
That noise reminds me of the Eddie Izzard ‘sawing a branch / punching a monkey’ joke.
Thanks? :)
Lovely one!
Thanks so much! Please share :)
A great story that a great many kids, adolescents, adults and grey-hairs can relate to… Well done and well played.
Thanks! I am not a musician, but I can play a mean straw!
Relate to it…Dood, I still do this. If you’ve got just the right straw n’ cup combo, it sounds just like a Cuica. Saude!

LOL! I guess that McDonald’s small Coke was the perfect combo!
I agree with David, this shit is amazingly simple yet funny!!!
Thanks!!
Your dad was one incredibly patient man —or maybe just hard of hearing :]
Maybe a little of both!
Yep, made me larf me arse off. Good one, Gabe!
Thanks! I did it for you!
