Also, I can relate to having the owners of your old house removing something. My sister and I used to have a play set in the backyard before it got moved. No hard feelings though, hopefully someone somewhere is enjoying it as much as we did. I like to think somehow your “hot tub” is being used to make good memories for someone else too.
if only that hot tub were a time machine, or if only you had a time machine to go back and rescue that hot tub.
….I didn’t even see the first movie (and I barely understand the premise), but I smell a sequel.
seriously tho, what a fantastic building. Just watching that video, I felt like I was there. I could practically smell the wood and chlorine.
I’m really happy you made that Gabe. Not sure why, but I found today’s video particularly brilliant. Might have a chemical imbalance. hehe.
Keep it up!
Reminds me of John Mayer’s song, “83″ –
“you can paint that house a rainbow of colors
rip out the floorboards
replace the shutters but
that’s my plastic in the dirt”
That is the coolest hot tub I have ever seen, and your dad is a total badass for building it out of pieces from a water tower. Also, this makes me want to animate again. Fine work!
Our dad’s seem to share resourcefulness as a trait. My dad moved tons of rocks when we first moved in to our farm, but we didn’t have anything big enough to them. So he made a “Rock Sled” out of a plastic 50 gallon drum that he split on on side and reinforced with steel bars. It still works great.
You’re Dad is a pretty cool dude – I stumbled on to his site while lurking on your website. It’s cool to compare what he used to do (the “hot tub”) to what he’s doing today :D
That hot tub just sounds way, way cooler than any of these suburban pools with fake waterfalls I see so much of these days. I guess because when I was little we’d swim in big horse troughs, which was great except for the horse flies
that magical hot tub seems the kinda home-recipes impossible to replicate. It was built with power, foundationed with good feelings and remembered by that immortal sensation we can only remember
wish I coulda lounged in it, but hey.. I have my own Hot Tub to find someday!
Why was the video removed??? :(
Sorry about that! I really wish Youtube had a syndication function… :)
Ah, the glorious memories of family history! Well told, sir!
Thanks!
Kinda sucked how the new family tore it down…I’d keep it T_T
My Dad just told me today that he wished we would have taken it with us when we moved.
How was this never even mentioned before!!! AHHHHH so cool!
Thanks! If you go back, the Hot Tub is in a ton of the strips and shorts :)
Your dad sounds awesome!

Aw, sorry to hear about your play set! I seriously doubt that the Hot Tub is still in one piece.
Thanks a lot! It’s no problem though, as long as we have the memories it’ll be all right.
Why would ANYONE tear down such a masterpiece instead of using it for themselves!? Your dad was a genius for having built something like that!
I think the new owners had it up for a while, but it’s gone now.

Thanks! It was such a cornerstone of our childhood, a lot of memories are tied to it. I think I can still smell the chlorine and old wood :)
PICS OR IT DIDN’T HAPPEN!
Ha! Here ya go, this is my brother and I when we are little. You can se the Hot Tub in the background:

Thumbs up! :)

That was a really cool idea of your fathers, at least you got to experience it
Yeah, we are very very lucky :)
That is the coolest hot tub I have ever seen, and your dad is a total badass for building it out of pieces from a water tower. Also, this makes me want to animate again. Fine work!
Wow! Glad I inspired you! Animate away! :)

Wow, that is inventive. Congrats to resourceful Dads everywhere!

Yeah he’s always been doing art, and now that he’s about to retire, that’s all he’s going to do. He’s earned it! :)
That is pretty great, an indoor-outdoor swimming pool that is naturally heated. That’s a really cool hot tub idea.
Those hippies knew what they were doing! :)
Hmm might be nice to explore if some of those hippie flowery ideas rubbed down on you later in life ;)
everything about this is awesome!!!! great work, Gabe!
Thanks, but all the credit should go to my Dad :)
They tore it down?! THAT’S SUCH BULLSHIT! I can’t believe that! That’s horrible! What kind of ungrateful morons would do something like this!?
People that didn’t want a home-made Hot Tub on their property :(
Coolest hot tub ever!
LOL!
You/He must rebuild! With today’s modern materials, he can make something amazing!
Aw, maybe. He’s a little too old now :(

We are all looking for our own Hot Tubs :)
