Our basement had a dark foreboding corner that housed wood for the wood stove in winter– no light could ever illuminate that horrifying dark corner! Flashlight batteries seemed to dim, the lightbulb’s rays never reached into the corner– and i’m pretty sure four zillion spiders, a monster bear, and a serial killer lurked in there!

NOT REALLY. but it does sound like it’d have gone well on the Buckethead Pikes albums
…seriously though, I’ve often considered heading back to that alley, seeing if it’s still there
and still alive.

ohh dude, NICE monsters! it must suck to be able to construct those things you can’t see in the darkness..
there was a long open-air alley near my 3rd-grade school, seemed like there was NEVER anyone there and birds didn’t even come there. It was the alley of Silence.. and the mind works with that quiet when you walk it twice a day.

So as long as you could make it to the laundry room you were safe? Yep, I know that feeling. I had to go into the middle of my room to turn on the lights. I hated it.
