Cause that’s what we need. The life story of yet another white american asshole. We’ve never heard that before. THIS COMIC SUCKS AND YOU SUCK FOR MAKING IT!
Hey, what’s the deal? I’m trying to share this comic on FB and the comment from brainless MONGO keeps coming up with the link. That has to be wrong somehow. glitch?
Since I was a kid and to this day, I’ve enjoyed what I call Saturday Morning Glory. I remember waking up to a just-received Amazon package and then listening to my first John Fahey CD in a rainy Saturday morning. Some people would say that is for petit bourgeoise only, I don’t give a hoot. Once again, really beautiful comic.
Yessssssssssssssss, Saturday for the WIN! Now if only current TV Networks weren’t all run by brainless fools who have no concept of how amazing Saturday Morning Cartoons are.
Yes, first world problems etc.
The real topic is THE MIGHTY ORBOTS rawk. That show made an indelible mark in my young brain, especially considering it only ran from September to December ’84.
Good lord, look at the crap that played at that time…
The World’s Greatest Super Friends • The Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show (Mighty Man and Yukk • Fangface • Rickety Rocket) (1979-1981) • Spider-Woman (1979-1980) • Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo • Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels • The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang (1980–1982) • Richie Rich (1980–1983) • Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (shorts) • Thundarr the Barbarian (1980-1982) • The Heathcliff and Dingbat Show (1980-1982) • Laverne & Shirley in the Army (1981-1982) • Pac-Man (1982–1984) • The Little Rascals • Mork & Mindy/Laverne & Shirley/Fonz Hour (1982-1983) • The Scooby & Scrappy-Doo/Puppy Hour (The Puppy’s Further Adventures (1982-1984)) • Monchhichis (1983-1984) • Rubik, the Amazing Cube (1983-1985) • The Littles (1983–1986) • Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show • Turbo Teen (1984–1985) • Dragon’s Lair • The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show • Star Wars: Ewoks (1985-1987) • Star Wars: Droids (1985–1986) • The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians • The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo • The Care Bears (1986-1988) • The Flintstone Kids (1986–1988) • The Real Ghostbusters (1986–1991) • My Pet Monster (1987-1988) • The New Adventures of Beany and Cecil (1988) • The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1988–2002) • A Pup Named Scooby-Doo (1988-1991) • Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears • Beetlejuice (1989-1992)
Let’s see, from that list I watched Richie Rich, Thundarr the Barbarian, Pac-Man, The Little Rascals, Rubik the Amazing Cube, The Littles, Turbo Teen, Star Wars: Droids, The Flintstone Kids, The Real Ghostbusters, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears
There’s some great stuff missing from that list too though, Pole Position, Capt. N, and who can forget–Dungeons and Dragons!
HEY! Where’s da big-ass bowl o’ Froo-Loops? At least some Suga-smax…c’mon! Childhood memory…yer doin’ it wrong! Seriously, though, that’s the one big nostalgic ache I’ve got…man, o’ man, do I miss Saturday mornings. They literally made me what I am today…an animator! Xbox 360 is a good second, and the rise of great adult cartoons from The Simpson on down through The Venture Brothers, but man, it ain’t the same.
We called this “cartoon day” growing up. From a very early age, I remember my older brother waking me up on Saturday mornings saying “IT’s CARTOON DAY!!!” And I didn’t know what that meant at first, but I knew it was wonderful.
It’s a little sad that kids today don’t really know what that means – everyday is cartoon day, depending on the parents, I guess.
Agreed! I feel that it has absolutely no specialness anymore. At that time we would be starved for cartoons. Sure, we would get a couple in the afternoon, but it wasn’t as cool as Saturday Morning cartoon OD!
Ah, I see. I really wish they’d fix some of the roads in Mt. Joy. Whenever I visit home I always pass through there and the potholes are terrible.
Which school did you go to? I don’t think Doe Run was built yet back then… Was it Stiegel or Burgard? Did you know they shut down the old middle school and built a new one next to chiques creek by Weis?
I went to Elm Tree (which they just demolished) and then to Sporting Hill.
I did know they shut down the Junior High. Also, the year I left the Senior High they started the major renovations. Basically my whole past has been changed or just doesn’t exist anymore :)
I grew up in Northern Lebanon. I was reading the comic and wondered if by odd coincidence the ‘heim central’ stood for Manheim. I definitely recall the excitement of Saturday mornings, thanks for the comic!
THIS!!!
Really nicely put together.
Thanks!
Aw, that’s so cute!
It’s even true when you get older and get a weekend off from work. Except now you have more chores to do :X
Stupid chores! Why can’t we just watch cartoons all day?!
I do.. Sometimes. Fuck those chores. That’s the nice thing about being an “adult” you get to choose your own day.

Um, aren’t bears brown, actually?
Maybe this comic isn’t for you.

Hmm, I don’t know. Let me look into it…
Sorry, but it FB pulls the first words from the page, and MONGO’s are first :(
Over 25 or so years ago, I would wake-up to watch Saturday morning cartoons, while eating colorful and overly surgery cereals. =D
Nowadays…
…I wake-up on Saturday mornings to watch the same old cartoons on retro channels, while eating the same sort of cereals. ;)
Stay young! I hope you aren’t wearing the same underwear from 25 years ago too :)

Keep the tradition alive! It’s a reward for a hard week’s work!
It’s a shame that kids today will never get to experience Saturday mornings like we did. I miss those times.
They are lucky enough to have cartoons 24 hours a day! Don’t feel too sorry for them :)

Amen.
Dang, nowadays Saturday morning cartoons on the local channel suck ass, unless you have cable or know where a stream is.
It’s crazy how fast they disappeared too…

I had no clue you went to Manheim Central, Gabe. Been a fan for a few months, just found out about some of your other work.
So, did you actually live in Manheim, or were you a kid like me, between Manheim and Lititz?
I grew up in Mt. Joy and then moved to Manhiem but more between Manheim and Lebanon.
Ah, I see. I really wish they’d fix some of the roads in Mt. Joy. Whenever I visit home I always pass through there and the potholes are terrible.

Yep, I lived in Manheim and Mt. Joy my entire childhood :)
“Stay young! I hope you aren’t wearing the same underwear from 25 years ago too :)”
I always do! LOL
The way I wear-out my underwear, I would not be surprised if they are that old. LOL But thats such a “guy thing.” ;)
LOL
EVERYBODY’S WORK-IN’ FOR-THE WEEKEND!
I love that song!
