I JUST NOW UNDERSTOOD THAT THE BALLS ON HER HEAD ARE POMPOMS.
I totaly thought she had put her hair into little minibuns and they were poking through her hat.
Boy do I feel stupid.
These are great though! Im kinda inspired to draw you some fanart.
Feel free to draw something. I can retroactively include it with the rest, when I get the chance.
My idea about her hat — and there’s no way anyone would be able to tell this — is that it’s made with little ear thingies in it, AND that her hair is up in two little buns, which are sticking into those ears. I should’ve had her take her hat off at some point, but I guess I just never got around to it. (you can glimpse her with no hat on, in the upper left of the 3rd page of development sketches, in the behind-the-scenes blog post that I Iinked)
Reader survey: Which ones are your favorites?
rosko, kawai ^-^ and holy crap i thought ruoccos drawing was yours!!!!!!!!! , that one too O_O brilliant drawing
Andy Gray’s is just genius.
These are awesome, it’s hard to choose a favorite as they all have a different flavor, Thanks Chris!
Zoo Laffs has gone multidimensional!
i liked roskos and piels ones the most, but all are good
I’m not surprised it generated some fan art. That story arc was honestly your best yet. I admit I’ve mocked your humor skills to friends before, but that one was really entertaining. I think it’s partially because you gave us a reason to actually care about your characters this time.
Balsley shames us all with his comedy stylings. Kermit Sassafras is the product of a comedic demigod.
I don’t typically draw a lot of fan art, but this last story was a lot of fun, so I really wanted to jump in. It’s great seeing everyone’s interpretations of the characters… I see Jakey as a fun combination of cute and stupidly aggressive, so I decided to draw his cuter side. Fun times!
I keep coming back and a different one catches my imagination each time. Every panel seems to stand on it’s own for a completely different reason. Great interpretations by all! But how could you go wrong with two such fun characters to work with? Thanks again for letting me be a part, Chris!
It’s true, they’re all great, and I’m honored that so many people sent them in. Yay!
Also, I just got a late entry, so I went ahead and threw that in at the bottom. Richard J. Smith did yet another beautiful version. I must say, Sassafras is looking quite disheveled, there. What just happened?!
And in regards to Katie’s poignant portrait, my friend John said, “I don’t want to know what she had to do to get Jakey to produce that cheese.” Haw.
Anyway, this was fun, and I’ll see you all NEXT WEEK!
I enjoyed following Kablooey all the way through and it’s cool seeing all these different artist interpretations. They’re very fun characters.
Oh, and Happy Valentine’s, everybody!
