When I first started reading dumm comics the week line up was actually good! nightmare theatre stuck to what it was supposed to do and was actually more like the 1930s than the present time with some kind of pseudo-1930′s slime cover. I could come here everyday and know there was something that made me laugh and I wouldn’t have to look at any crude cartoon penis every other damn day or see women reduced to objects to be ogled at by one track minded animals. That’s all Zoo laffs is- horny animals going all retard face when they see, what is supposed to be but really isn’t, an attractive woman. THATS NOT SOMETHING TO FUCKING LAUGH AT! That comic is fucking bringing us back to the 50s where they had cartoons showing a burlesque dancer with over exaggerated curves getting hoot and hollered at by wolves! If Dumm really wants to find good comics they should avoid the ones that are nothing but dick and sex jokes!

I have to say I actually agree with Cecona for the most part because raunchy humor is not my thing. I don’t get why most of this crude stuff is funny. Is it just because crudeness in general is silly? I can’t relate. I mean, especially when it’s done constantly. But you know what, good for those artists who have found a following with that sort of humor. I just wish it wasn’t here at Dumm.
When Dumm first started, I hated Big Pants Mouse, Earthward Ho!, and Through the Porthole. Then I realized Through the Porthole was amazing, right before it ended. I still hate Earthward Ho! Big Pants Mouse (Sorry, Gabe!), but I absolutely love Life in the Analog Age. I’ve added Frog Raccoon Strawberry to my list of comics I just don’t like (It’s really clean art, I just can’t quite get into it, guys) and I’m very excited for the return of Sorry Guys.
My point is that basically nobody gives a shit and who the fuck cares if I don’t like FRS or Earthward Ho? Different strokes for different folks and we can all agree we like a little pressure right under the ridge of the glans, yeah?
I actually like the hyper-decompressed aesthetic, and some of the John-K-tastic artwork, but the comics themselves are often either grotesque (like the infamous one centring around a handful of semen) or else they’re “1001 Jokes For Kids” material performed very slowly, occasionally in Internet idiot-speak. That’s why I don’t like Sorry Guys much. But fuck it, as long as David doesn’t put a gun to my head and command me to read it I don’t really have any right to scream and shout like a cunt about how it shouldn’t exist. SORRY GUYZ!

Pictures are nice, if not yet another I-like-JonK-too comic, but the humor is non-existent.
Good illustrations ARE an essential component of a webcomic – but the writing is also an important consideration.
What might make sense is asking Bloodvork to compare Texas Averies to, say, the original “Sorry Guyz” and see what answers he comes up with

There’s nothing “John K.” about Sorry Guyz. I see more Dr. Seuss and Jim Tyer in David’s work than John’s style (which is always changing, so you can’t pinpoint it).
Threatening to stop visiting dumm comics because of the content is like threatening to walk out of a soup kitchen because you dont like the food. Nobody gives a fuck youre getting this for free…
“Getting this for free” is thrown around an awful lot. That’s a justification for not being owed anything, but the fact that there is a comments section here means people can express whether or not they are happy about the topic. Giving or not giving a fuck is left up to the person reading the comment, especially if the aim of that reader is that this site should have visiters. One could say the same about any comment.
I wonder if one could study how Space Moose’s humor worked. Perhaps it could improve the humor of “Sorry Guys” if the author took inspiration from the ways that Mustafa al-Habib did the humor.
Aw, come on. Most of the dumms we have now are bad enough as is. The only ones that I actually always look forward to are Skadi and the occasional Wicked Wickle.
Sorry guyz is a Dumm Legend. No one seems to be able to agree whether they are Legendarily Good or Legendarily Bad, but they are definately legendary. :)
