Wow, U.S. corporations must have done a lot of work to expand it like this, it’s just about your ACTUAL loved one (girlfriend/boyfriend or wife/husband) in the rest of the world.
We did this in Canada, too! It’s when the unliked girls in the class would admit to liking me through their valentines cards. Of course, all of those unliked girls grew up to be total hotties.
I loved getting those officially licensed Valentines cards with numerous old cartoon & video game characters in ‘em. (I was a very commercialistic child, lol) I remember getting ones from my friends featuring Muppet Babies, Garfield, Snoopy, Transformers, Ninja Turtles, Popples, Smurfs, and even Dr. Mario.
I read “Valentines” and I knew this is what the video would be about.
I miss those days so very much, Valentines used to be a great holiday for everyone when we were little.
But now it’s just for couples, now that I’m older. I do still enjoy it though.
Great nostalgic video. ♥
I remember one year (1st grade?) I built a robot valentine box. It was basically red, white, and pink construction paper (along with aluminum foil) glued onto a couple cardboard boxes. Then you shoved the valentines into its mouth. Everyone else seemed to have plain boxes with slots. Licensed valentines were the best. And the envelopes they came in were ultra-flimsy. And I remember you gave your best friends the cardboard valentines that you cut out of the back of the packaging.
I remember doing this! Sometimes the valentines would cheat by having cards for the teacher with Teacher written on them, so there would be less usable cards then you thought (unless you had four or five teachers floating around). I remember one or two last minutes runs to have enough valentines and being upset when they didn’t match the valentines we already had.
Of course, I had a stupidly enormous grade-school class. Other people probably didn’t have this problem.

Yeah lol. I don’t think I’ve heard of this happening round here.
But cool video anyway :D

@Trevour That’s cool. I wish I would have made a robot! That’s a great idea.
The envelopes were so flimsy that you could see through them. Cheapness actually negated the purpose of the things!
I totally forgot about cutting the special cards out from the back of the box. I’m pretty sure I got some weird cards, like the Wuzzles or something.

I used to love this kind of Valentines Day! Now it’s a little depressing at times… I kind of wish it was still like this.
Aw! Maybe those times will come again…
